I have had a deep passion for photography all my life. As a kid, I loved to experiment with my dads 2 ¼ square film format Zeiss Ikon folding camera. At ten he decided I should have my own camera and bought me a Russian Zenith B. My interest in photography increased exponentially after that and I found myself plunged into the world of makeshift darkroom conversions of the attic and smelly staining chemicals in the family bathroom. Over the years I have owned a number of different cameras and now use a 36 megapixel Nikon camera capable of producing huge wall filling images.
Throughout the years my interest in photography has deepened as I continued to combine my love for the great outdoors and a geekish interest in software with my desire to improve my creative skills. I love to travel and this has added to my huge enthusiasm for landscape photography.
The focus of my photographs is almost solely on landscapes. Taking landscape photographs awakens a deep desire within me to portray the beauty of the world I see before me. In each of my photographs, I try to recreate that drama and atmosphere of that moment in time that inspired me to take the shot. To me, the most important challenge in making a photograph is to elicit an emotional response from the viewer. I feel comfortable in adjusting colors, contrast, and other aspects of a photograph in order to strengthen the emotional message that I wish the image to convey.
I feel I am still on a photographic journey which thankfully has no end in sight, and continue to learn all the time as I strive to create better images.
